Even after Aaron Rodgers’ first season with the New York Jets became a disaster almost right away, there is legitimate hope that this year, which will be Rodgers’ second with them, could be special.
He has some legitimate weapons around him, including wide receiver Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams and running back Breece Hall, not to mention a defense that is star-studded.
But Rodgers has become a polarizing figure across the NFL over the last couple of years, and there are people who feel he isn’t all that.
Nick Wright said on his podcast “What’s Wright? with Nick Wright” that he doesn’t think Rodgers is an elite player anymore.
“Aaron Rodgers is operating as if he is still a superstar,” said Wright. “And I don’t think he is.”

Rodgers won the NFL regular season MVP as recently as the 2020 and 2021 seasons, but in 2022, his last year with the Green Bay Packers, his production dipped.
He went from throwing for 4,115 yards and 37 touchdowns with a 68.9 percent pass completion rate in 2021 to 3,695 passing yards, 26 passing touchdowns and a 64.6 percent completion rate in 2022.
Not only is Rodgers coming off one of the most devastating injuries any athlete can suffer, but he has 15 years of wear and tear as a starting NFL QB on his body.
The good thing for him is that he may not have to play at a true MVP level for the Jets to be contenders.
Their defense should take plenty of pressure off of him to put up big numbers, and Hall is one of the game’s brightest young running backs who should be able to carry their offense at times.
Hall ran for 994 yards and five touchdowns while also adding 76 catches for 591 yards and four touchdowns in 2023.
