A few weeks ago, two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo put the Milwaukee Bucks on notice that if he wasn’t on the same page with his teammates in terms of having a championship mindset, he’d look to play somewhere else.
This essentially started the clock for the Bucks, as their superstar made it clear that he’s thinking about a future elsewhere in the NBA, and that was more or less an open challenge for the team to upgrade the roster or suffer the consequences of losing their best player.
Even though everyone expected the upcoming season to be an interesting one for the Bucks as it would be “Giannis watch” all year long, Milwaukee took Antetokounmpo’s words seriously and got to work quickly.
The Bucks got involved in the trade talks involving Damian Lillard and were able to put a trade package together in order to acquire the superstar guard, which creates arguably one of the most intimidating starting lineups in the league.
Nick Wright of FOX Sports believes it is now championship or bust for the Bucks after the acquisition of Lillard in this blockbuster trade with the Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns, via “First Things First.”
“This is championship or bust for the Milwaukee Bucks. Dame is maybe the perfect complimentary piece to Giannis. … As a basketball fan, this is exciting.”

As Wright points out, the pressure is on due to this blockbuster trade, with the Bucks now being the favorite to win it all, and understandably so, as Milwaukee’s roster is as good as it gets in the league.
The real question moving forward is whether it will work in Milwaukee, but as Wright points out, Lillard could be the best player to put alongside Antetokounmpo, which remains to be seen.
