DeMeco Ryans’ arrival made an immediate impact on the culture turnaround within the organization.
Will Anderson Jr. and C.J. Stroud were also instrumental in making this team believe and having both veterans and young players alike rally together.
Thanks to the much-improved quarterback play, WR Nico Collins took a massive leap forward in his third season in the league.
Now, the Michigan product is eligible to sign a contract extension, and it should be a no-brainer for the organization.
When asked about that, Collins talked about how much of a blessing of a season it was, adding that he was able to ball out and produce for his team and was quite excited to keep building on that in the future (Via Aaron Wilson).
“A lot of memories, I’m excited to get back to work and pick up where we left off. Great guys in the locker room, it’s going to be an exciting year,” Collins said.
“Man, it was amazing, a blessed season. I did miss a couple of games, but made it out healthy. l did well for the team. I stayed healthy. I balled out. It was a long season, but a fun season. Collins posted career bests all over the board.
Despite making just 15 appearances (10 starts), he finished the season with 80 receptions on 107 targets, 1,297 receiving yards, eight receiving touchdowns, and a whopping 16.2 yards per reception.
Collins entered the league as a third-round pick and didn’t look very special earlier in his career, but it’s hard to blame him if you consider the lack of production at the QB position in Houston.
Now, he looks like a potential star in the making.
