The Los Angeles Clippers enter the 2023-24 season hoping to finally get over the hump as they should have Kawhi Leonard and Paul George healthy.

Leonard and George’s availability is the primary reason why the Clippers have been unable to deliver on their championship expectations, but the organization is hopeful that next season is when things finally come together.

Los Angeles also has quality depth behind their two stars who have done well to hold their own when called upon to step up into bigger roles.

One of those players is Nicolas Batum was able to resurrect his career with the Clippers and he projects to be a key cog on both ends of the floor.

Batum was busy this summer playing for France in the 2023 FIBA World Cup though they were eliminated much earlier than expected.

Meanwhile, Germany won the gold medal over Serbia and Batum had some fun with his congratulatory message via his Twitter account.

“Congrats Planet Earth’s champs Germany,” he tweeted.

Congrats Planet Earth’s champs Germany

Batum is referring to comments made by Noah Lyles who questioned why NBA teams and players call themselves world champions after winning a title.

In this case, Batum took Lyles’ words a step further by calling Germany ‘Planet Earth’s’ champions even though world champions would have probably been more appropriate this time around.

Lyles managed to start a dialogue about what is appropriate to call NBA champions, though players immediately responded and mocked him.

Either way, the basketball world should be celebrating Germany for a fantastic tournament showing and allow them their chance to bask in the spotlight.
