Following their championship-winning season, the Denver Nuggets lost one of their key guys.

Letting Bruce Brown go proved to be a massive blow for Mike Malone’s team, and they clearly missed him when it mattered the most.

Now, they could go through the same thing all over again, this time with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

Nonetheless, even if that’s the case, they’re not that worried.

Recently, Nuggets GM Calvin Booth claimed that they feel like Christian Braun is ready to step up if need be (via NBA Central).

Nuggets GM Calvin Booth says Denver will be “okay” if KCP doesn’t return and believes Christian Braun is ready to step up

“It would be nice if he’s back, we’d have a lot of continuity together, but all the stuff I’ve looked at with lineup stuff and everything, Christian Braun is… pic.twitter.com/6HAwTdtCA7

He stated that they would obviously love to keep Caldwell-Pope, but with him likely to get better offers from other teams, Braun could take his role.

Booth said that Braun is one of the best net-rating guys in the league, just like Caldwell-Pope.

Braun was a big contributor to their postseason success two years ago, and he was a breakout candidate last season, but that didn’t happen.

Still, he knows how to play and he’s a winner at every level, so he could be ready for a bigger role in the offense.

The Nuggets know how important role players are to winning an NBA championship, but with their core set to make big bucks, they’ll have to pivot and find their reinforcements from within.
