You may not have heard of Vlatko Cancar of the Denver Nuggets much but he has been preparing for a breakout summer.
Cancar was set to play for his home country of Slovenia in the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup.
Unfortunately, his plans were just canceled.
Mike Singer has reported that Cancar suffered a torn ACL in his left knee while playing with his team on Friday.
There is no timetable for a surgery yet but it sounds like his chance of playing in the World Cup are gone.

This will be a tough loss for Slovenia.
Cancar averaged 5 points and 2.1 rebounds during his latest season with the Nuggets.
However, he only played for 14.8 minutes per game, which means he could be more helpful with longer periods on the court.
He was sure to get those with Team Slovenia.
Cancar’s 47.6% from the field will also be missed as the team tries to claim success in the big games.
Of course, Team Slovenia’s biggest star is still Luka Doncic.
Doncic has been preparing to push himself – and his team – as far as possible.
They showed some serious promise a few years ago and they are hoping to be contenders again this year.
The loss of Cancar means that even more weight is on Doncic’s shoulders, which isn’t new to him.
This injury obviously might affect Cancar’s upcoming season with the Nuggets.
Although he didn’t play a lot in 2022-23, he has been slowly gaining more minutes over the years.
How will this new injury complicate that?
