The Denver Nuggets lost their chance of winning consecutive championships on Sunday night as they were taken down by the surging Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals.

It was a bitter defeat for the Nuggets, who thought they had a real chance of returning to the Finals.

After the game, Denver star Christian Braun spoke honestly about how much the loss hurt.

“It sucks, because I think we’re the better team,” he said, per NBACentral.

If the Nuggets really are a better team, they sure weren’t acting like it on Sunday.

They were able to put together an impressive 20-point lead but they let it slip away in the third quarter and eventually lost by eight points.

For his part, Braun contributed 5 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.

This was obviously a very hard series for the Nuggets.

They got off to a bad start with back-to-back losses at home but were able to rebound with three straight victories of their own.

But things got really bad in Game 6, when they lost by an eye-popping 45 points.

Many people thought they’d come out swinging in Game 7 because of that loss and, for a while, those people seemed to be right.

But the Nuggets stopped shooting well and weren’t able to limit the Timberwolves as the game came to a close.

Most fans would agree that the Timberwolves were the better team in this series but that doesn’t mean the Nuggets are bad; they just experienced a ton of problems in the playoffs.

Will they be able to figure out what went wrong and come back even stronger next year?

That is possible but now they will have to contend with the rising Timberwolves, who may now be the best team in the West.
