No one was surprised when Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets was selected as an All-Star a few weeks ago.

But some people were surprised and disappointed that he was the only Nuggets star to make the list.

Denver player Aaron Gordon was one of the people who was bummed by the news.

Speaking to Harrison Wind, via NBACentral, Gordon said he doesn’t quite grasp why Jokic is the only Nuggets All-Star.

“I don’t know why that is. Not entirely sure. That’s a mystery to me. Doesn’t make any sense,” Gordon said.

The inclusion of Jokic in the All-Star Game was a no-brainer for many, as he is putting up 26.1 points, 12 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game on 57.7% from the field.

He’s a sensational player and truly one of the best alive.

In fact, he’s once again in the running for MVP this season.

That being said, there are other Nuggets players who are doing wonderful things.

Jamal Murray is posting 20.5 points and 6.5 assists per game, and Michael Porter Jr. is averaging 15.9 points and 6.9 rebounds.

Gordon himself has been terrific with 13.9 points and 6.7 rebounds.

Getting into the All-Star Game isn’t very easy and it requires a mix of good luck, great skills, and massive popularity.

Jokic is the biggest and most impactful player in Denver and is one of the top-five most popular basketball players alive, which greatly enhanced his chances of being voted into the game.

In the end, the number of All-Stars on a team doesn’t matter as much as winning a championship.

The Nuggets are currently the fourth team in the West and have more competition than they did last year.

That being said, they still have a good shot of reaching the Finals again, which would be an accomplishment more important than multiple players in the All-Star Game.
