MLB is home to many great rivalries.

A few of them feature the most popular team in baseball, the New York Yankees.

One series that New York fans always look forward to is the Subway Series.

That is the one featuring both the Yankees and New York Mets.

Yet, this year’s series lacks plenty of juice.

Mostly because the Mets and Yankees are both missing their star players.

Pete Alonso and Aaron Judge are both on the injured list, which takes a lot of life out of this series.

The New York City newspapers are even roasting this series for how lackluster it might be.

According to Anthony DiComo, the front and back pages of newspapers in NYC mention how both teams are struggling.

It is a shame both Judge and Alonso are unable to play in this series.

MLB is trying to expand the game but it is hard to do so when the star players are injured.

These two sluggers are arguably the two best power hitters in the sport.

Unfortunately, we will have to wait until next year to see them square off.

This is an important series for both teams as both are trying to fight back into the division race.

The Yankees are nine games out of first place in the AL East, while the Mets sit nine games out of first place in the NL East.

Neither team expected to be in this position, but both have underachieved this year.

This Subway Series may lack the star power but they are still important games for both teams.
