The Detroit Lions had a memorable season in 2023, coming up just short of the franchise’s first Super Bowl appearance.

Finishing with a sterling 12-5 mark, Dan Campbell’s squad rocked the NFL landscape and surged through two playoff victories before blowing a big lead in San Francisco.

The team won its first division title since 1993 and defeated the Los Angeles Rams for their first playoff victory since 1991.

Heading into the 2024 campaign, many experts believe the ceiling for this group is even higher.

According to ESPN BET, Detroit is the favorite to become the NFL team that will win its first Super Bowl in 2024.

Following the top-ranked Lions are Cincinnati, Buffalo, Houston, and Atlanta.

There is much reason for optimism in the Motor City in the third year of the magical combination of Campbell and GM Brad Holmes.

Star quarterback Jared Goff recently inked a new deal to keep him in Detroit through 2028.

Then there’s the dynamic backfield duo of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs, which exploded into the league last year in record-setting fashion.

The two became the first backfield mates in NFL history to achieve 1,000 scrimmage-yard seasons and ten rushing touchdowns in the same season.

And while defense was and may remain the key concern for Campbell’s charges, by all appearances, the team did another excellent job in the draft of shoring up possible weaknesses with young talent.

Does this mean the Lombardi Trophy is headed to Detroit for the first time?

Not necessarily, but few would be surprised to see the Lions hoist the game’s ultimate prize come February.
