The upcoming NBA season will have to wait for a little longer, but that doesn’t mean we won’t get a chance to get a glimpse of the best basketball on the face of the Earth.

The Olympics are finally underway, and even though Team USA is the clear odds-on favorite to win the gold medal, they’re going to have a tough time getting past so many talented teams.

As of now, LeBron James is leading the race to be named MVP.

As pointed out by ESPN BET on Twitter, the four-time NBA champion has +250 odds to take home the distinction, followed by Stephen Curry (+750), and Anthony Edwards (+900).

Unsurprisingly, most of the players listed are Americans, with Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, and Jayson Tatum also as potential candidates.

As for foreign players, we find Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (+1200), Nikola Jokic (+1300), and Victor Wembanyama (+1700).

Team USA needs to bounce back from a disappointing outing in the previous FIBA World Cup.

They didn’t go all-out with the roster they sent to that tournament, and while some of the players will be back for the Olympics, they’re not expected to lead the way this time around.

Also, knowing that this will most likely be LeBron James’ last dance with Team USA — and maybe also for Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry — they will most definitely look to go out in style.

James has been Team USA’s best player thus far through five exhibition games, and he’ll have to prove that he’s still got plenty left in the tank when things get real.
