The Los Angeles Chargers will have a new head coach for the first time in three seasons after the team fired Brandon Staley.
Whoever wins the job will inherit a team led by franchise quarterback Justin Herbert and a bounty of talented players on offense and defense.
Simply put: This job will be one of the most sought-after positions in the league.
One betting company already has published odds on who will take over as head coach, too, and the favorites are certainly interesting.
While most of the list includes first-time head coach candidates, the No. 1 name on the list is none other than current New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, according to BetOnline.ag via Mass Live’s Mark Daniels.
From @betonline_ag: Odds on the next Chargers head coach
Bill Belichick 3/1
Frank Smith 4/1
Kellen Moore 4/1
Ben Johnson 7/1
Bobby Slowik 8/1
Brian Flores 9/1

Belichick is still the head coach of the Patriots as of this writing and, apart from a recent report indicating his impending firing, could remain in that role in 2024.
But if Belichick has finally outstayed his welcome in New England, these oddsmakers think he could switch coasts and try his luck in Los Angeles.
The other names on the list are a little more likely, though.
Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Frank Smith has helped create one of the best offenses in the NFL, while current Chargers offensive coordinator Kellen Moore would ensure a smooth transition this offseason and maintain continuity for Herbert.
Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is also a name to watch, as is Patriots linebacker coach Jerod Mayo and USC head coach Lincoln Riley.
The Chargers have a lot of options this offseason.
