The Minnesota Timberwolves remain the best team in the Western Conference right now with a 40-17 record.
A huge reason for their success this season is the team’s unparalleled defensive skills and that’s mostly because of Rudy Gobert.
Gobert is doing so well with his defense that he remains the favorite to win this season’s Defensive Player of the Year, according to Bovada, via NBACentral.
Gobert holds odds of -800, a clear favorite to take home the prize.
Behind him is rookie Victor Wembanyama, followed by Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jarrett Allen, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

The rest of the players in the running for DPOY are Bam Adebayo, Anthony Davis, Chet Holmgren, Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, and Herbert Jones.
Gobert is far and away the man to beat when it comes to Defensive Player of the Year.
It won’t be easy for any of these stars to overtake him because he’s having such a sensational season.
Gobert is averaging 13.7 points and 12.7 rebounds per game.
He is also putting up 2.1 blocks per game.
His impact on the team is immense and it’s hard for any other squad to get past the Timberwolves when Gobert is tuned in.
He is already a three-time Defensive Player of the Year; will he do it again this season?
When Gobert moved to the Timberwolves last year, some fans feared he wasn’t a good fit.
After a lackluster first season in Minnesota, there was uncertainty about Gobert and how he would work with the team.
But that uncertainty has evaporated this season and the Timberwolves are doing better than they have in years.
At this point, Gobert is on his way to his fourth Defensive Player of the Year but there is a possibility of someone stealing it from him, even though that possibility is slim.
