The offseason is undoubtedly for optimism, and many NFL fan’s dreams are quickly crushed by reality when their favorite squad hits the playing field.

But there is no denying Chicago’s renewed sense of purpose after quarterback Caleb Williams was selected with the first pick in the 2024 NFL draft.

Throw in the first-night choice of standout wide receiver Rome Odunze, the talented wideout pool he joins and the rebuilt Bears defense, and hope springs eternal.

How much so?

According to NBC Sports Bet, Chicago’s over/under for wins in 2024 is 8.5.

That’s right; the experts believe that there is a solid chance that Chicago will snap out of the doldrums and post a winning campaign in 2024.

The Bears increased their win total by four games last season despite quarterback Justin Fields’s underwhelming performance, which ultimately led to his departure to Pittsburgh.

The year started 0-4, and there was little cause for optimism in the Windy City as the team’s struggles continued.

But something funny happened on the road to oblivion.

The team rebounded from a 2-7 start to win five of its final eight outings.

The defense improved dramatically with the acquisition of Pro Bowl end Montez Sweat and the maturation of cornerback Jaylon Johnson.

The Bears led the league in stopping the run and finished tied for first in interceptions, signs that the Monsters of the Midway may have new life.

And with the stellar draft and offseason acquisitions that include former Charger wideout Keenan Allen, there is a noticeable upgrade in weapons for Williams to target.

Thus, the cause for cautious optimism.
