Just a few nights ago, Jalen Brunson scored 50 points against the Phoenix Suns.
It was the best scoring night of his career and it generated a ton of praise from New York Knicks fans.
In many ways, Brunson had been preparing for that night all of his life.
A video shared by New York Basketball shows a teenage Brunson practicing on the court with his father, Rick.
Throughout the video, Rick encourages his son to dig deep, push himself harder, and not give up.
“Everything you do has to be legit,” Rick said in the video while also telling his son that “tired is for the weak.”

Jalen certainly did look tired in the video, as he continually posted shot after shot even with sweat dripping down his face.
But he didn’t give up and he never stopped jogging up and down the court to practice.
Rick was speaking from experience because he had spent nine years playing in the NBA and knew what it took to find a lot of success in such a competitive league.
All of that hard work has paid off because Brunson is now one of the best players in the NBA.
He is averaging 25.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.9 assists this season, shooting 47.5% from the floor and 45.8% from the three-point line.
The Knicks are currently the sixth team in the East and they have found a lot more success with Brunson on the roster.
After years with the Dallas Mavericks, Brunson has turned into a team leader and New York’s biggest star.
And, just like his father instructed all those years ago, he never gives up during a game.
