The Baltimore Orioles are a team that is in a position to make a run towards October this year.
They own the best record in the American League at 65-41 and have taken the lead in the American League East over the Tampa Bay Rays.
The team is reportedly in the mix for starting pitching help, which is something they are in need of if they plan on making a run to the postseason.
However, the Orioles are in luck, as they remain in contact with the Detroit Tigers about two of their starting pitchers and have also checked in with the New York Mets about Justin Verlander, according to Jon Morosi.
Morosi notes that the Orioles are one of several teams that are aggressively pursuing the reigning AL Cy Young and future Hall-of-Famer.
The Orioles are among the teams actively pursuing a Justin Verlander trade with the Mets on deadline day, source confirms.

The 40-year-old has started 16 games this season for the Mets after joining the team on a two-year, $86 million contract.
He is 6-5 with an ERA of 3.15.
Verlander has won three Cy Young Awards, two World Series rings, and an MVP.
Though the veteran right-hander is near the end of an illustrious career, he still remains as effective as ever and is certainly one of the more valuable commodities on the trade market.
Verlander would give the Orioles a true ace, and somebody with great postseason experience who can guide them in October as they look to win their first World Series title since 1983.
The phones will be ringing today, and Verlander may ultimately be moved.
