The Orlando Magic put the NBA notice after a successful 2023-24 NBA season where they got back to the playoffs and came within a game of advancing to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Orlando’s got a talented young roster headlined by Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, but also has a deep supporting cast with players like Jalen Suggs, Jonathan Isaac, and Wendell Carter Jr.

The Magic enter the offseason as one of the most interesting teams to watch out for because they’re one of the few playoff teams with significant cap space.

Orlando has the ability to sign any max free agent outright, giving them plenty of options to sift through to elevate their roster.

Although the Magic’s clearest need is at point guard, they could also benefit from having a star wing next to Banchero and Wagner.

It appears that Orlando’s got two targets in mind in Paul George and Klay Thompson via NBA insider Marc Stein.

“Orlando continues to be mentioned by various league observers as a natural suitor for George as well as Golden State’s Klay Thompson,” Stein reported. “The Clippers certainly hope to retain George in free agency, but they’ve made it clear by letting negotiations drag out to this point that they want to do it at their price.”

George has yet to sign an extension with the Los Angeles Clippers, while Thompson will be looking for long-term security after a down year.

Both players make sense for Orlando and could be lured away if the right deal is presented to them.
