The Green Bay Packers made an interesting selection during the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, selecting Lukas Van Ness.
While Van Ness was seen by many as a high-caliber prospect, many Packers fans were surprised that once again, the team didn’t draft a wide receiver.
This continues the Packers’ 21-year streak of not taking a pass catcher in the first round, as Ari Meirov indicates.

The Packers will head into the 2023 season led by Jordan Love, after the recent departure of Aaron Rodgers.
While his departure was expected, the Packers now find themselves in an interesting predicament on offense.
Do they continue to roll out their young receivers, hoping they develop with Jordan Love?
Or, will the Packers continue to shock their fanbase, and target a veteran receiver before the season begins?
With two more days left in the draft, the Packers can still add some receiving help, or even acquire a new tight end.
Regardless of their decision-making over the next several months, the Packers will look different next season.
This will be the first time in over 30 years that the Packers will not be led by Rodgers or Brett Favre, a longstanding tradition within the organization.
Love has been gaining traction within the locker room over the last several weeks, and the Packers have expressed the utmost confidence in him.
The Packers have one of the most historic and loyal fanbases in the entire league.
We’ll soon see how their supporters latch onto Love, and how the team moves forward.
