The Green Bay Packers are slated to head into the 2023 season with Jordan Love as their starting quarterback.
This signals the end of the Aaron Rodgers era in Green Bay, paving the way for Love’s future as the franchise star.
However, Love’s 5th-year option remains unsigned, which Brian Gutekunst, the Packers GM, has recently commented on.
“It’s a lot of money for a guy who hasn’t played,” said Gutekunst.

Love’s 5th-year option, which would kick in for the 2024 season, is worth over $20 million.
This is due to Love’s first-round draft capital, and the Packers have a big decision to make.
After Gutekusnt’s initial comments, he also said “At the same time, obviously we’re moving forward with him.”
As these comments indicate, signing Love’s option isn’t a matter of if, but when it will happen.
The Packers have handed the offensive reins to Love and made several moves in the draft to help support him.
In the second round, the Packers took a tight end and wide receiver, Luke Musgrave and Jayden Reed.
Musgrave was one of the largest tight ends to be taken in this year’s draft.
If he performs as anticipated, the Packers will add a genuine playmaker at the position.
Reed was an unexpected pick for the Packers, given who was still on the board and their recent draft history.
Typically, the Packers draft larger receivers, but Reed is just 5-foot-11.
Will Love be able to pull this offense together in his first year as the Packers starter?
