The Green Bay Packers didn’t need a lot of time to find their new quarterback.
In spite of the criticism and doubts, Jordan Love delivered from day one, and he only got better throughout the course of the campaign.
He proved to be as ready as the front office said he was, and now, it’s not a matter of if they’re going to extend his contract; it’s about when and for how much and how long.
With that in mind, GM Brian Gutekunst didn’t want to make a big fuss about it.
Talking at the NFL Scouting Combine, Gutekunst stated that he’s pretty confident that he’s going to be in touch with Love’s agents once the timing is right (via Matt Schneidman).
“I’m sure I’ll see David and Andrew (Love’s agents) while we’re here,” Gutekunst said.
Gutekunst on Anders Carlson: “There’s gonna need to be a curve of getting better if that’s gonna continue.”
Jordan Love’s extension: “I’m sure I’ll see David and Andrew (Love’s agents) while we’re here.”
Can Rasheed Walker be LT1?
“I certainly think he’s already shown that.”

Some salary cap analysts project his new deal to be something in the range of four years at $168 million with close to $100 million in guarantees, giving him something around $42 million a season.
Considering how the quarterback market has exploded over the past couple of years, and with guys like Dak Prescott set to make $60 million in their next contract, this could be the ultimate bargain a couple of years down the line.
Love left a great impression in his first season as a starter.
Now, he’ll have to prove that he wasn’t a one-year wonder and prove every single dime of that big contract extension he’s about to get.
