The Green Bay Packers have some new weapons to play with.

Letting Aaron Jones go was a tough blow for the fans, but they knew a talent like Josh Jacobs doesn’t become available very often.

They also held onto AJ Dillon, which was a bit of a surprise.

Then, they added an explosive back in the NFL Draft, taking MarShawn Lloyd out of USC.

With that in mind, Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich shed some light on their plans for their running back corps.

Unsurprisingly, they believe that Jacobs can be an every-down kind of running back, all while their rookie gives them an ‘explosive element’ (Via Around the NFL):

“Josh is a phenomenal running back,” Stenavich said.  He’s just one of those guys that’s good in all situations, good out of the backfield as a receiver, excellent runner. He’s a good (pass) protector. So he’s one of those guys that you can really have in the game all the time and not have to worry about anything with him. So that’s nice.”

“I would like to get (Lloyd) out there as much as possible,” Stenavich said.

Lloyd is by no means a workhorse running back, but he can explode for big gains on almost every single touch he has.

His lateral quickness and quick twitch make him deadly in tight spaces, and once he gets past that first layer, he’s off to the races.

As for Jacobs, he’s perhaps the only true every-down back in this league at the moment, and he can also be a factor in the passing game.

The Packers also have a savvy offensive mind with Matt LaFleur, and having this kind of running back room should open up things for Jordan Love in his second year as the starter.

This team is ahead of schedule, and it’ll be very exciting to witness their development and watch them compete for years to come.
