Packers Release Veteran QB

After defying the odds and making the NFL playoffs in the first season of the post-Aaron Rodgers era, the Green Bay Packers appear to be a team on the rise in the league once again, with a talented young quarterback leading the way in Jordan Love.

Although the Packers have only gotten a small sample size of Love starting at quarterback for this team, Green Bay felt confident enough in his potential to be a superstar in the NFL that they signed him to a massive contract extension recently, paving the way for a bright future in Wisconsin.

With Love a rising star, the Packers will likely be a force to be reckoned with once again during the 2024 NFL season, especially with a big addition like star running back Josh Jacobs coming out of the backfield.

However, even though Love will be the starter for the foreseeable future, Green Bay will need some decent options behind him to provide insurance in the event an unfortunate injury occurs to the new face of the franchise.

Unfortunately for former fourth-round pick Jacob Eason, he won’t be a player the team will lean on to back up Love moving forward, as he was released on Monday, according to Jason B. Hirschhorn of The Leap.

Despite being an intriguing prospect coming out of the 2020 NFL Draft, Eason simply hasn’t been able to make it on the NFL level, as he’s already played for seven teams in the league.

With the team moving on from Eason, the team will turn to Sean Clifford and Michael Pratt on the depth chart to be backups for Love.
