The Green Bay Packers stunned the NFL last season by going 9-8 and making the playoffs in the first season without Aaron Rodgers last year.

Franchise quarterback Jordan Love and his young pass-catchers deserve a whole lot of credit for helping to turn the tide after the team started 3-6.

However, it isn’t just the offense that helped take Green Bay to within a fourth quarter of the NFC Championship Game.

Despite the firing of former defensive coordinator Joe Barry this offseason, Green Bay’s defense got hot down the stretch and proved that they are on the rise.

Starting edge-rusher Rashan Gary specifically believes that the team’s defensive line is the best unit in all of football.

“Of course…We have the talent. We got all the names on the list. We just have to be consistent and keep pushing each other…The whole team feeds off of us,” Gary recently said on Up & Adams.

Important players such as Gary, veteran edge-rusher Preston Smith, and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark are going into their sixth season together.

They are the straws that stir the drink because of their experience and talent when it comes to getting after the quarterback.

Gary is looking to take that next step and eclipse 10 sacks in a season for the first time in his career.

Smith has quietly been a great No. 2 edge rusher as he has recorded eight or more sacks in four of the last five seasons in Green Bay.

Clark is coming off his third career Pro Bowl appearance too.

Younger players such as second-year defensive tackle Karl Brooks (four sacks in 2023), second-year edge-rusher Lukas Van Ness (four sacks in 2023), and former first-round defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt bring plenty of talent to the group too.

With the arrival of former Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley, who is taking over as the new defensive coordinator, the defense could take on a more aggressive approach that could cause havoc for opposing offenses.
