The Green Bay Packers have quietly built up one of the league’s deepest and most talented young wide receiver groups in the NFL and they are positioned for a big year catching passes from newly-paid quarterback Jordan Love.
One key member of that WR group suffered an injury scare in practice today, but luckily for Packers fans, it appears it was just a scare and he’ll be okay.
USA Today’s Ryan Wood shared a video from Packers practice today detailing the injury scare Christian Watson suffered in practice, noting that the wide receiver flashed two thumbs up while walking off the practice field following an instance where he got kneed in the side of the leg and fell to the ground.
Christian Watson flashes two thumbs up walking off the practice field. He’s ok. Watson said a knee got him in the side of the leg as he fell to the ground. The team initially circled around Watson but he was able to walk off with just a slight limp and said he was okay.
Watson has missed 11 games in his first two seasons in the league mostly due to recurring hamstring injuries, which he has said has been a main focus this offseason during his workouts in an effort to put those issues behind him.
It’s the reason why this news was so alarming, as Packers fans have been tortured by having Watson sidelined so regularly due to leg injuries in his career.
At 25 years old, this team will be counting on him to be the explosive deep threat it lacked last season.
Watson is an ideal complement to the other receivers in the room and is the only big body capable of being the powerful downfield threat that he has proven capable of being.
