The San Diego Padres have a tough pill to swallow this offseason.
Missing the playoffs with their roster is something that their fanbase will not accept.
The Padres went into last offseason looking for ways to improve.
They did that on paper but the results never showed on the field.
If you are looking for the most disappointing team in baseball, look no further.
The Padres finished the regular season 82-80, and only two games out of a Wild Card spot.
It was a late-season surge that made it seem like they were in contention when that was not the case for most of the year.
After a disappointing season, it makes sense that the Padres will make some moves.
Well, if they do, it will not be to fire their manager.
According to AJ Cassavell, Padres GM A.J. Preller said manager Bob Melvin will return next season.
A.J. Preller, speaking now in his end of season media availability, will return in 2024 and says Bob Melvin will remain as manager.

Melvin led the Padres to the NLCS last season and rightfully deserves another year.
He has been a winning manager in almost every place he has been.
Preller believes that Melvin is the right man for the job and next year he will have to prove that.
The Padres will have to make something happen to improve their roster this offseason.
One move will be to decide what to do with NL Cy Young favorite Blake Snell.
He is a free agent and will be looking to command top dollar.
The Padres letting him walk will be a big loss to their pitching staff.
Preller has his work cut out for him as the Padres enter the offseason.
