The Carolina Panthers are going through a tough season, to say the least.
Winners of 1 game through 12 weeks, it wasn’t much of a surprise to see that they fired Frank Reich, especially considering David Tepper’s ways as a team owner.
The business mogul isn’t exactly known for his patience, as he’s already shown in the MLS by firing two coaches in as many seasons as an owner.
Notably, he’s taking the very same approach in the NFL, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter pointed out that it’s the second consecutive year he’s fired coaches mid-season.
The Panthers now have fired head coaches during the season in back-to-back seasons. Matt Rhule last year, Frank Reich this year. https://t.co/L1yDedqjiu

First, it was Matt Rhule, and now, it’s Reich.
Truth be told, this team seemed doomed from the beginning.
While Bryce Young was expected to fare much better than he’s done thus far, reports suggest that he wasn’t Reich’s — nor the staff’s — preferred choice with the No. 1 pick; it was Tepper’s.
All things aside, the team wasn’t good enough, and while Reich’s decision-making as a coach has often been criticized, there’s only so much he could do with that team.
Tepper could’ve decided to keep Steve Wilks after the impressive turnaround he led last season, even after they traded Christian McCaffrey away, but he wasn’t even considered for the job.
Wilks wound up signing with the San Francisco 49ers as their defensive coordinator, and it was clearly the best decision he could’ve made.
Firing two coaches in as many seasons doesn’t speak volumes about the potential stability that comes with the job, and the Panthers will have a tough time finding someone who’s willing to take the reins of the team in the future.
