The Milwaukee Bucks were in big need of a physical defender to bolster their perimeter defense, and they found one on the cheap.

Doc Rivers traded for Patrick Beverley as soon as he took the job, and the controversial guard didn’t hesitate to leave it all on the court for his beloved coach.

As per usual, Beverley had mixed results on defense.

Some of it was great, some not so much, and there were plenty of antics on and off the court.

Nonetheless, despite his perennial inconsistency and the way he ended the season, Beverley still thinks he’s worth more money in the NBA.

Talking on his podcast about his future in the league, the 35-year-old guard stated that his performance in the playoffs showed that he deserved a raise, so even though he wants to stay in Milwaukee, he’ll take a look at the business side of the game as well (via NBA Central).

He averaged 8.2 points and 5.5 assists per game on 41% from the floor in the playoffs and finished with a plus-minus of -1.

Also, the Bucks were sent home in six games, so it’s not like he was a huge factor, as the Indiana Pacers still pushed the pace on them, and he didn’t exactly lock up Tyrese Haliburton.

Granted, defensive-oriented players are hard to come by in today’s NBA.

But maybe he shouldn’t get too carried away, especially after the way things went down with his suspension and everything.
