The 2019-20 NBA season will go down as one of the strangest of all time.

COVID and the bubble made some people put an asterisk next to it, and we saw some bizarre things.

Even so, it’s hard to say that the things that went down were a fluke, as most of the teams that thrived there continued to be better after the bubble, and those that underperformed haven’t gotten over the hump yet.

Still, Patrick Beverley recently took to Twitter to blame the bubble for the fact that the Los Angeles Clippers didn’t win the championship that season.

The Clippers had a stacked lineup featuring the likes of Beverley, Kawhi Leonard, and Paul George, and they also had some very good rotation pieces like Montrezl Harrell, Landry Shamet, and Lou Williams.

They cruised past Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks in the first round but couldn’t keep up with Jamal Murray, Nikola Jokic, and the Denver Nuggets in the semifinals, vastly underperforming when it mattered the most.

Notably, it’s not like they got hurt or sick in the bubble, and — all due respect to Clippers fans — it’s not like they were used to playing in front of packed arenas either, so Beverley’s point doesn’t make that much sense.

The Clippers had everything going for them to get the job done, and they didn’t; it’s as simple as that, regardless of what Beverley thinks.
