With three exhibition games in the books for Team USA ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Americans again look like the dominant squad on the international stage, even though Australia gave them a run for their money recently.
Although Team USA looks like the team to beat heading into another international tournament with the best of the best that the world has to offer, that hasn’t stopped current and former players from analyzing the roster and coming up with their ideal starting five for head coach Steve Kerr.
After three games, it seems clear that Anthony Davis is the best player on the squad — or at least is playing the best — but he’s coming off the bench rather than starting at center, which has been a subject of debate lately.
The latest to chime in on who should be in the starting five for Team USA is veteran guard Patrick Beverley, who recently chose to leave the NBA in favor of signing with a team overseas. But that hasn’t stopped him from giving his opinion on his podcast.
Beverley went with Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Joel Embiid, Kevin Durant and Anthony Edwards as his ideal starting five for the Americans.

That isn’t a bad squad by any means, as it checks all the boxes for scoring, shooting, defense and veteran leadership.
Even though many people have given their two cents about who should start, Kerr seems adamant that he won’t make a change, especially when it comes to Joel Embiid starting over Davis.
