Former NBA veteran Patrick Beverley has never been shy about providing insight into how the NBA operates behind the scenes ever since he started his own podcast.
One of his most recent takes is surprising, as he said that some stars around the league are flat out scared of their coaches.
On a recent episode of The Pat Bev Podcast, he said “It’s a lot of players scared of head coaching, lot of superstars” before adding that some players don’t want to be coached.

Beverley mentioned that it’s most common when a coach who has won before starts coaching a team that hasn’t won before, which is a situation that could be applied to the Indiana Pacers with Rick Carlisle or Doc Rivers’ time with the Philadelphia 76ers.
It has been said plenty of times across different NBA player podcasts that many players are simply in the league because they love the lifestyle the league provides for them as opposed to being there to do whatever it takes to win championships and be the best versions of themselves.
A player who has been around the league as long as Beverley has and for so many different teams with different superstars by his side, his insight into the locker room is as valid as anybody’s.
He surely had a few superstars in mind when he said this without naming names, and it’s not hard to figure out who he could be referring to if you look at where he has been.
