For the fourth time in the last five seasons, quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are headed to the Super Bowl after beating the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday.
Before the game, Ravens placekicker Justin Tucker was asked to move by Mahomes so Mahomes could warm up, and according to Mahomes, the kicker did not do so.
The two-time MVP said he could remember three times when a kicker didn’t move to allow him to warm up prior to a game, and all three occasions happened in Baltimore.
“I asked him to move his stuff,” Mahomes said, via ProFootballTalk. “He got up and moved it, I think, two inches but didn’t move it out of the way. I was gonna let it slide, but Travis got in and moved it for me. And after that, I wasn’t gonna let him put it back down. I have a lot of respect for him as a player, one of the best kickers of all time, probably the best kicker of all time. But at the same time, you’ve got to have respect for each team, and we all share the field, and we try to do that in a respectful way.”

Prior to the AFC title game, many around the NFL felt the Ravens were the best team in the AFC and perhaps the entire league, and they were the betting favorites for a while to appear in Super Bowl LVIII.
However, if Mahomes has taught the football world anything over the past couple of years, it is that betting against him is foolish.
He completed 30 of his 39 pass attempts on Sunday, while Jackson went just 20 of 37 and was sacked four times.
While Kansas City’s wide receivers continue to often be underwhelming, star tight end Travis Kelce was his vintage self with 11 catches for 116 yards and a touchdown.
Now, with the likely regular-season MVP in Jackson disposed of, the Chiefs will take on the San Francisco 49ers and another MVP candidate in QB Brock Purdy for all the marbles.
The 49ers will greatly test their newly elite defense, and the Niners are certainly much better than they were four years ago when the Chiefs defeated them in the Super Bowl, but Mahomes has continually proven he can make something out of seemingly nothing.
