Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes seems to be doing all the right things on the field and off the gridiron, as he has now won back-to-back Super Bowl titles coming into the 2024 NFL season and made a kind gesture to his alma mater.
Although the Chiefs didn’t look like the same dominant team throughout the NFL regular season last year, Mahomes and company endured their bumps and bruises throughout the 2023 campaign and won a second straight title, setting them up to potentially make history during this upcoming season.
Even though Mahomes’ primary focus right now is on the football field and getting his team ready for what will be another tough season filled with pressure and distractions, the three-time Super Bowl champion has still had time to pay tribute to Texas Tech University.
According to a statement the university released to the public on Thursday, the Mahomes family has donated $5 million to the Campaign for Fearless Champions.
“Texas Tech Athletics announced Thursday alumnus Patrick Mahomes II has provided the final gift of the historic Campaign for Fearless Champions as he and his wife Brittany have dedicated $5 million towards the $242 million South End Zone and Dustin R. Womble Football Center project.”
With Mahomes and his wife being charitable people, this doesn’t come as much of a surprise, as they always seem to be willing to give back, even if it is a sizable donation like this to his old school.
Now, Mahomes will get back to work with the Chiefs, who have one more preseason game to play before taking on the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 on September 5.
