NFL games on Thursday night have not been popular from a players’ perspective since the NFL decided to make the change a few years ago.

Players don’t seem to be a fan of the short weeks when they have to play on Thursday night, and it’s hard to blame them as it’s bound to be difficult to recover quickly in a physically demanding sport.

As if the situation wasn’t bad before with players being unhappy about Thursday games, now teams in the league can play on the dreaded day more than once in a season, and Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes isn’t happy about it.

With Mahomes and the Chiefs being must-see TV for football fans, the NFL will almost certainly have the defending NFL champions playing two Thursday games this upcoming season.

Mahomes is likely fully aware of that fact, and he’ll probably be one of many superstars that openly express their disappointment in the league making this decision.

Former player Robert Griffin III also doesn’t seem to be a fan of the move by the league.

So much for player safety

It’ll be interesting to see how players feel about this move made by the NFL leading up to the 2023 campaign and whether it sparks some protest or outrage about player safety, as Griffin points out.

The league appears to be trending toward more games in the future, which also won’t go down well.

The schedule for next season will be released by the NFL on May 11, with plenty of players bound to be unhappy about getting two games on Thursday night.
