Patrick Mahomes hasn’t been in the NFL for long, but he already has his fair share of epic moments.

A three-time Super Bowl winner before turning 30, chances are he’s going to have plenty of more of those ahead as well.

Nonetheless, if you were to ask him about the single-greatest moment in football history, he wouldn’t even be a part of the story.

Recently, the reigning Super Bowl MVP talked about how the New York Giants coming from behind to beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII should get that distinction (via Evin).

He raved about the fact that the Giants were huge underdogs and barely made the playoffs, and they wound up beating a team that hadn’t lost a single game all season.

That Giants win was definitely epic.

For starters, it had arguably the most iconic catch in Super Bowl history when David Tyree outjumped a star safety like Rodney Harrison to secure the football, pinning it against his helmet to make sure to maintain possession.

Then, with just over 30 seconds left to play, Eli Manning hit a wide-open Plaxico Burress for the Giants’ second touchdown of the evening — both scored in the fourth quarter — to give them a 17-14 lead.

Tom Brady and the Patriots’ offense couldn’t get it done in the final seconds, and the rest is history.

A win there would’ve seen the Pats go 19-0.

Instead, Eli Manning and the New York Giants are responsible for making sure that Brady didn’t win another Super Bowl ring.
