Last year, the Kansas City Chiefs made a shocking move after being unable to see eye-to-eye with superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill on a new contract and, as a result, traded him to the Miami Dolphins.
It was a stunning move by the franchise, with Hill being arguably the best player in the league at his position and one of Patrick Mahomes’ go-to guys in their potent offense.
Hill’s absence left many questions about whether the Chiefs offense could continue to be dominant, but that speculation didn’t last too long, with Kansas City having another successful season and winning their second Super Bowl title under head coach Andy Reid.
In the 2023 campaign, the Chiefs have again lost some pop at the wide receiver position, with JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman heading elsewhere in NFL free agency.
However, the Chiefs still have future Hall of Famer Travis Kelce at the tight end position and a promising young wideout in Kadarius Toney, who Mahomes recently said can turn into one of the best wideouts in the league, via ProFootballTalk.

The Chiefs acquired Toney last year in a trade with the New York Giants in exchange for draft picks, and although he didn’t make a significant impact on the team last season, he may have a much bigger role this season.
Toney only caught 17 passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns after being traded to the Chiefs in the regular season and added a touchdown catch in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles.
It remains to be seen if he can have a major role in Kansas City, but Mahomes seems confident in his potential, which might be enough to get him a shot to reach his true potential.
