Every single year, a star quarterback in the NFL tends to reset the market for players at the position, and that has happened over the last few months with a few different stars around the league.

Last week, the Green Bay Packers sent shockwaves throughout the league by signing quarterback Jordan Love to a historic deal that will pay him $220 million over four years.

Although Love only became a starter last season and started winning games consistently in the second half of the 2023 campaign, the Packers brass were convinced he was the new face of the storied franchise and needed to be paid accordingly moving forward.

Other quarterbacks that have also cashed in include Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals), Trevor Lawrence (Jacksonville Jaguars) and most recently, Tua Tagovailoa (Miami Dolphins), which has led to questions about whether three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes is now underpaid.

As arguably the best player in the NFL today, Mahomes definitely deserves to get paid as such, but he doesn’t believe he’s underpaid, according to Nick Shook of NFL.com.

“Not necessarily,” Mahomes said when asked if he believed he was underpaid. “I think we do a great job of managing my money, to be able to pay me a lot of money, and keep a good team around me.”

Obviously, this is exactly what the Kansas City Chiefs want to hear from Mahomes, as it doesn’t put any pressure on the team to pay him more, nor is he focused more on money than football.

With Mahomes still making a hefty sum, he will try to make history with his team during the 2024 campaign, with Kansas City having a chance to be the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowl titles.
