The New England Patriots will be in uncharted waters during the 2024 NFL season as former longtime head coach Bill Belichick will no longer lead them.
In his place stands head coach Jerod Mayo, the Patriots’ former inside linebackers coach and a natural replacement for Belichick given his familiarity with the franchise.
New England’s roster is nowhere near where it needs to be to compete for a Super Bowl, though the understanding is that it’ll take a few years to properly rebuild.
Mayo will have his chances to steer the team in the right direction, though fans will need to try and be patient as they work through things.
However, there appears to be another opening after Patriots team physician Dr. Mark Price passed away via the Patriots’ official Twitter account.
“The New England Patriots are deeply saddened by the passing of team physician Dr. Mark Price.”

Price passed away after a bout with cancer, an unfortunate result that too many people have suffered from.
Price was named New England’s head team physician and medical director in 2016 and served well in the role up until his passing.
Prior to that, Price was a sports medicine orthopedic surgeon at Mass General Brigham Sports Medicine and earned his MD at Harvard Medical School.
He also appealed to the Patriots as he was a veteran who served as a captain in the U.S. Navy Reserves.
New England team owner Robert Kraft offered his condolences to Price and his family, a sad day for the franchise.
