With the Bill Belichick era now officially over for the New England Patriots, a new era has begun for the storied NFL franchise, with the team expected to make some moves to address the future during the offseason.

One of those moves will involve the quarterback position, with Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe clearly not being the answer for this team moving forward, as neither player has been able to move the needle when under center for the Patriots.

With the Patriots having the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, New England will have the ideal situation to bring in another promising young quarterback, with plenty of viable options likely available at the top of the draft.

Now that all signs point to the Patriots drafting a quarterback in next month’s draft, Jones’ future with the team is currently up in the air, but New England does seem open to trading the one-time Pro Bowler, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

With Jones on the decline ever since an impressive first season with the Patriots, it’ll be interesting to see what offers New England gets for the 25-year-old, as there’s no telling whether that phone will ring with how disappointing he’s been on the field over the last few years.

Only time will tell what the future holds for Jones, but it is safe to say that it won’t be in New England, as he’ll need another opportunity elsewhere to prove he can still play this game at a high level.
