The New England Patriots entered training camp with cautious optimism.
After a failed experiment with Mac Jones, the Patriots decided to start over in their quarterback room, drafting Drake Maye with the No. 3 overall pick.
Maye was an intriguing prospect heading into the draft, but he was a seemingly good fit to join the Patriots, hoping to help them rebuild moving forward.
He has experienced some ups and downs to this point, and fans were starting to worry if he was going to work out.
However, a recent update from a Patriots insider might be able to quell their fears.
As Greg Bedard reported via Gregg Rosenthal, “I can’t overstate how much different Maye looks since his successful stint against the Eagles’ backups.”

While Maye looked shaky in his first preseason game, he found a way to dial it in during his second appearance.
He certainly wasn’t perfect, but confidence can go a long way in this sport.
Bedard seems to believe that Maye is in a much better headspace now than he was a few weeks ago, which might be able to propel him into the regular season.
Of course, the Patriots have yet to name their Week 1 starter, so it remains to be seen who will be under center for their season opener.
This team has been rebuilding since Tom Brady’s departure, and has seemingly searched far and wide to find their newest quarterback.
Will Maye be the player they’ve made him out to be?
