Paul George is now a member of the Philadelphia 76ers after the nine-time All-Star recently signed a four-year contract worth $212 million after the Los Angeles Clippers couldn’t offer him the deal that he wanted.

George recently chatted with the Philadelphia media about why he chose to sign with the Sixers as a free agent.

“Easy. Joel Embiid is a dominant force…Tyrese Maxey is one of the hottest up-and-coming stars that the NBA has. … What Nick Nurse has done with this Philly group, what he’s done in his career, he’s a winner,” George told NBC Sports Philadelphia.

The 76ers have been a contending team in the Eastern Conference for the last handful of years. They have made the playoffs in seven consecutive years and have won more than 50 games in four of those seasons.

Now, they have added another superstar to help fill a void in their lineup.

Not only do they have Embiid, Maxey and George in the fold, but they also have other key veterans such as Andre Drummond, Kyle Lowry and Kelly Oubre Jr.

This very experienced roster has a chance to contend with the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks and Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference.

The 76ers have not won the NBA championship since 1983. But with this roster in place, perhaps Sixers fans can start to see a light at the end of the tunnel.
