The NBA can be a tough business.

While a lot of fun can be had for players, coaches, and fans alike, difficult moments happen, especially when it comes to roster decisions, devastating losses, and contract implications.

Paul George recently experienced a tough situation with the Los Angeles Clippers, causing him to opt out of his player option and sign with the Philadelphia 76ers.

George was seeking a contract extension with the Clippers after the 2023-2024 season, but when it became clear that he wasn’t going to get it, he looked elsewhere.

76ers fans are excited that George is now on their team, as he’ll be the third star on their roster.

While this situation has now blown over, George’s father appeared on a podcast with Tomer Azarly, providing his take on the situation.

“I felt like they stabbed us in the back because I thought Paul did a whole lot for the team. I think he gave them 110 percent, and what he was asking, it wasn’t a whole lot,” George’s father said.

In his mind, the Clippers should have been more apt to meet his contractual needs, especially considering his impact on the team.

The Clippers thrived with George on the team, in many respects, and without him, they could have a down season.

George’s departure is yet another example of the NBA being a player-driven league.

If players are unhappy with their current situation, they have no qualms about leaving that team in search of a new opportunity elsewhere.
