For months now, NBA fans have heard that Paul George could leave the Los Angeles Clippers this summer and join a different team that can pay him a lot and make him a central part of their plans.
The Philadelphia 76ers have been at the forefront of all rumors about George but that may no longer be the case.
According to Shams Charania, the Sixers’ interest in George “has significantly waned in recent days.”
The team is now “expected to be aggressive elsewhere with its salary cap flexibility and draft capital leading into next week’s NBA Draft,” Charania wrote.

It’s not entirely clear why the 76ers have suddenly grown lukewarm on the idea of adding George but it sounds like they are moving on from the idea of signing him.
The team will have a decent amount of money to spend this summer and they want to add more help to Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and the rest of the roster.
Last season made it clear that while Philadelphia is a very talented team with a lot of promise, they are still a few pieces away from being championship contenders, especially when Embiid is hurt.
They will be looking all over the league for that missing puzzle piece that could help them in the seasons ahead.
As for George, there will be other teams trying to sign him in the summer.
If it’s clear that he won’t stay with the Clippers, a number of franchises will work hard to get him.
But it has seemed like the Sixers were the frontrunners for some time so this news from Charania definitely shakes things up quite a bit.
