The Los Angeles Lakers could afford to take a chance on Bronny James.
That would appease LeBron James and Rich Paul, and they have a solid player development staff.
Nonetheless, being the son of LeBron James comes with hefty expectations, even for a No. 55 pick.
That’s why everybody’s talking about him.
Notably, since he is LeBron James’ son, it also seems like other NBA players are very cautious with the words they use to talk about him.
That includes Paul Pierce, who was known for his feud on and off the court with James and who’s always been quite unapologetic about every single one of his takes.
This time, however, the Boston Celtics legend was actually quite understanding of Bronny, praising him for the defensive impact he could make at the next level (Via Undisputed).
“Bronny needs to be more confident on the offensive end. He’s got to be aggressive.”

That doesn’t mean he was exempt from criticism.
Pierce believes that Bronny needs to be much more aggressive on the offensive end of the floor, as he’s not even looking to shoot the ball.
He added that this is a make-or-miss league and that it would be very difficult for Bronny to find playing time if he couldn’t make shots.
Bronny is undersized, but he has the physical tools and all the resources to become a serviceable role player.
Even so, people should just tame their expectations about him as an NBA star, as that might simply never happen, and that’s fine, all teams also need role players — and particularly, defenders — to win championships.
