Even though the new NBA season is here, James Harden hasn’t been traded to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Most people thought that the Philadelphia 76ers and Clippers would be able to make a deal happen over the last few months.
Unfortunately, both sides couldn’t see eye-to-eye.
However, would it even make sense for Harden to be in LA?
Former NBA player Paul Pierce raised that question when speaking on “Undisputed.”
“If he goes to the Clippers, is he willing to take a lesser role and come off the bench?” Pierce asked, according to NBACentral.

This is a sticking point that many people have raised over the last several months.
Harden is undeniably a great talent and could certainly help the team in some unquestionable ways.
And becoming a bench player might be best for himself and the team.
Would he be open to that change after years of being a top option for multiple teams?
It seems unlikely, especially since he reportedly tried to move to the Houston Rockets recently and wanted to become the scoring champion again.
That doesn’t sound like the goal of someone who is comfortable being part of a team’s second unit.
Although a move to the Clippers seems unlikely right now, it may happen in the near future.
Things in Philadelphia are complicated and quite messy and Harden still wishes to leave that team as soon as he can.
Reports say no other teams are in the mix to land him so Harden could ultimately pack his bags and set up shop in Los Angeles soon.
If that happens, he and head coach Ty Lue will have to have an honest and uncomfortable conversation about this role within the team.
