Following Sunday’s brief scuffle between Alex Caruso and Rudy Gobert, there has been a lot of talk about the toughness of the Minnesota Timberwolves big man.

On Tuesday’s episode of “Undisputed,” Paul Pierce made one thing clear: he isn’t afraid of Gobert and believes that most other NBA stars share his opinion.

“Nobody considers European players tough, especially from France,” Pierce said with a chuckle.

Pierce wasn’t questioning Gobert’s skills or him as a person but he said that players in the league aren’t afraid of Gobert, no matter how tough he talks.

During Sunday’s game, Caruso drew the ire of Gobert after attempting to box him out and gain possession of the ball.

Later, Gobert told the press that he was going to hold Caruso “accountable” if the league did not.

He didn’t get into specifics about what that meant but the threat shouldn’t be taken too seriously, according to Pierce.

He blames Gobert’s European background and also his on-court incident with Draymond Green earlier in the season.

Taken together, it all adds up to someone who isn’t very tough.

Although Pierce and current NBA stars might not be scared of Gobert, they should be frightened by his team.

After years of struggling, they are now one of the best teams in the West and have a 51-23 record.

They are poised to have a strong run in the playoffs for the first time in many seasons.

Additionally, Gobert is on the verge of earning Defensive Player of the Year too.

Pierce and others may claim that there is nothing tough about Gobert but the success he and his team have found this year is certainly noteworthy and should be alarming for any opponent in the playoffs.
