The Los Angeles Lakers are looking for a new head coach after the prompt firing of Darvin Ham.
Although leading that team is an iconic and highly-coveted job, it comes with many challenges.
Speaking on “Undisputed,” Paul Pierce said that coaching the Lakers is a “puppet job” that comes with the tough task of vying for a championship while also keeping LeBron James happy.
Because of that, Pierce said, “The best person for this job is probably Maverick Carter.”

Carter is a longtime friend, business associate, and manager of James.
He is the person who has been in charge of all of James’ business decisions over the last couple of decades and has had a heavy hand in guiding his career both on and off the court.
Because of Carter, James is one of the world’s highest-paid athletes.
Pierce clearly believes that whoever is given the HC job in Los Angeles will be taking on a position that centers around James.
It’s about making the biggest star on the team satisfied with the state of the team and his role within it.
Countless people have commented on how many coaches James has had since entering the league so many years ago.
It is true that multiple people have come and gone as his head coach and there is no doubt that the Lakers are very interested in keeping James happy for the last few years of his career.
Anyone who takes on this role will have to accept that and know what they are getting themselves into.
That being said, multiple people would do a good job in Los Angeles, both coaching the team and pleasing James at the same time.
The team doesn’t have to hire James’ close friend and associate to keep him engaged.
