Prior to Wednesday night’s exhibition game against Canada, Team USA star Anthony Edwards said that he should be a number-one option for his squad.
He proved that during the 86-72 win and Paul Pierce noticed.
Speaking on Thursday’s “Undisputed,” Pierce said that Edwards showed he is a leader for Team USA and should be relied on much more often moving forward.
“His personality took over the USA team,” Pierce said.
He predicts that the Americans will win it all in the Olympics this year, partly because of the great work of the young Minnesota Timberwolves star.
“The clear leader of this USA team on the court is Ant-Man.”

Edwards was Team USA’s leading scorer with 13 points and helped get the team back on track after a rough start to the game.
As he promised, he played with enthusiasm, heart, and high energy.
Over the last few weeks, there have been questions about who will start for Team USA in the Olympics.
With such a deep well of talent, head coach Steve Kerr has his work cut out for him and has plenty of options to choose from.
During Wednesday’s game, Edwards proved why he should be considered a starter.
But will he get the chance?
Kerr went with Jrue Holiday as a starter over Edwards in the exhibition game but he may change his mind for future matches.
These warmup games allow people to show what they can bring to the team and for the coaching staff to make adjustments.
After Edwards’ dominant showing, many fans will be calling on Kerr to tweak the lineup and give Edwards more time.
He is coming off his best season ever and became a household name this year.
Will Edwards turn into an Olympic starter in the weeks ahead?
More importantly, will he become a gold medalist too?
