The Indiana Pacers put the New York Knicks away on Sunday afternoon in Game 7 of a very difficult, draining series.

Now they have to set their focus on their next opponent: the Boston Celtics.

On “Undisputed,” Paul Pierce stated that he thinks the Celtics will beat the Pacers in five games.

He admitted that Boston will likely lose one game, perhaps Game 2, but thinks they will ultimately claim victory.

Pierce gave a number of reasons why his former team would reign supreme in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Perhaps most importantly, he said that the Celtics have just enjoyed multiple days off and are well-rested and ready to play.

Meanwhile, the Pacers only won on Sunday afternoon, likely flew back home to Indiana, and are now on a plane for Game 1 in Boston on Tuesday evening.

Additionally, their series against the Knicks was incredibly tough and physical, so every player on the roster likely feels banged up and tired.

On top of all that, the Celtics are mostly healthy, with just Kristaps Porzingis out of Game 1 due to his injury.

All of this could add up to the Celtics winning, Pierce thinks.

Of course, the Pacers shouldn’t be counted out yet.

They are indeed the underdogs in this series but they have shown terrific grit and skill throughout the season and the playoffs.

Some people argue that they’ve only made it this far because they played against short-handed teams, but the same is true for the Celtics.

Beating Boston won’t be easy but the Pacers can get it done.

It’ll just require that they keep playing as they did on Sunday and don’t give in to exhaustion and the predictions of analysts like Pierce.
