The New York Knicks are for real.
They pulled off a big trade for Mikal Bridges, and even though they had to give up plenty of valuable assets to get it done, they knew it was the kind of transaction that could get them over the top.
More importantly, they did so without losing any key contributor to their team, as Bojan Bogdanovic barely played and was hurt at the end of the season.
On top of that, they paid a lot of money to keep OG Anunoby, one of the best defenders in the game, also locked in for years to come.
With that in mind, Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce tipped his hat to them.
Talking on Undisputed, he stated that they’ve definitely made some solid moves.

Nonetheless, as far as being a threat to the defending NBA champions, he just doesn’t think they’re there yet.
He stated that it’s normal to see teams trying to emulate what the champions have done, which is why they spent so much money on a player that will most likely be their fourth scoring option.
He also thinks that they’re most definitely a contending team in the Eastern Conference and puts them in the same tier as other very good teams.
Of course, given his love for the Celtics, he might be a little biased when it comes to assessing potential threats.
The Knicks should be very good in 2024, and they will have plenty of doubters to silence when they take the court.
