The New York Knicks added Mikal Bridges on Tuesday night and, to many, that was a trade that made them much stronger competitors for the upcoming season.

On Wednesday’s “Undisputed,” Paul Pierce talked about the trade and told viewers that it might not be as ground-breaking as some people think.

He said that the Knicks could be better because of Bridges, but that other teams in the Eastern Conference would also improve.

That means they won’t be odds-on favorites to win their conference, despite what some Knicks fans think.

Pierce, a diehard Celtics follower, isn’t too afraid of the Knicks yet.

Pierce said that this summer will be important for a number of teams in the East.

The Knicks are clearly making moves so they can be even better than they were last season.

They have a deeper roster now, especially if they can keep Julius Randle and OG Anunoby as well.

But the Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers, and others will all grow stronger over the next few months.

There was a lot of conversation about how weak the Eastern Conference was in 2023-24 but that might not be the case in 2024-25 and beyond.

If Joel Embiid, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and other competitors are healthy in the new season, this addition of Bridges might not be that impressive.

Pierce ended his comments by saying the Knicks need to have athletic wings who can guard and shoot.

As great as Bridges is, they won’t be that competitive if they don’t have that.

So even though the Knicks just made a blockbuster trade, Pierce says they shouldn’t stop and need to keep working hard to retain their strong lineup.
